The role of Brazilian essential oils in gastrointestinal diseases: From Alecrim-pimenta
to Copaiba and Sweet Orange
Prof. Dr. Rafael Oliveira obtained his Master’s degree and Doctorate in Morphofunctional Sciences from the Federal University of Ceará (Brazil) in 2018 where he also taught classes in anatomy at the same institution as part of his teaching internship.
He stands out for being a specialist in essential oils working with the essential oil of Lippia sidoides - a Brazilian native known as Alecrim pimenta, and is recognized as a national and international speaker in the area of essential oils in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases.
He is director, pedagogical coordinator and professor at the largest Institute that promotes the specialization Latu Senso in Aromatherapy in Brazil with recognition by the Ministry of Education-MEC, the Aromas da Terra Institute, UNIFATEC hub in Ceará, with more than 300 students already trained.
He currently has a voluntary post-doctorate in progress at the LEFFAG UFC Gastrointestinal Physiopharmacology Laboratory, where he treats inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract using essential oils.
He is also organizer of major national events in the area of aromatherapy including International Symposium on Aromatherapy and Essential Oils as well as Aromas Summit Brasil, an event focused on the entrepreneurial development of healthcare professionals and aromatherapists.
