Divergent nasal microbiome composition in aromatherapy specialists with a focus on possible and known roles of Citrus-derived compounds in human microbiome shaping

Ruta Aldonyte MD, Ph.D., is currently employed as a chief scientist at the Department of Regenerative Medicine, State Research Institute Centre for Innovative Medicine, Vilnius, Lithuania (since 2008) and is President of the Lithuanian Association of Aromatherapists.

She obtained her PhD at the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University, Sweden and worked as a post-doctoral associate at the University of Florida. Her work with essential oils began with training in clinical aromatherapy in 2009 and 2010. Since 2015 she has been the president of the Association of Lithuanian Aromatherapists.

Her skills and interests include regenerative mechanisms of the human respiratory system, as other human organs and tissues, human biomonitoring markers and procedures, air pollution detection and mitigation strategies in the human organism, disease and tissue modeling in vitro, biosensors and biomarkers, and phytochemicals.
